the Magic Kingdom - Disneyland. And one event made our visit seem truly magical.
We got to the front of the line at Space Mountain, only to find out that our little daughter Gloria couldn't take her ice-cream on the ride. We were so excited that we all forgot ice-cream was not allowed on the ride. Gloria broke into tears and we all had no idea what to do. Then Murphy, one of the staff (员工) members, came over. She bent down and told Gloria that she would hold the ice-cream for her and give it to her when she finished the ride. Gloria said, \"Promise?\" Then she gave Murphy her ice-cream, and she completely enjoyed the ride.
Sure enough, as we walked out of the exit, there was Gloria's new friend with \"her\" ice-cream. Now you and I both know what happened, because we know that an ice-cream won't last twenty minutes on a summer afternoon in Florida. Murphy knew what time we would get off the ride; she went to the nearest shop and bought a brand-new ice-cream thirty seconds before we walked out of the exit. Gloria said, \"Thank you,\" but I'm sure she thought it was the same ice-cream.
We know that someone tried hard to make our visit special. Thanks so much for going above and beyond! Your fan, Carmen Rivera

While travelling, you'll be taking money, license or passport. Or you will buy something expensive to take back home with you and you don't want it to get stolen. Here are some ideas on how to keep your valuables (贵重物品) safe while travelling. Plan ahead of time
Think of what you really need and don't need to take on your trip. Only take the valuables that you must have, not just ones that you would like to have. Carry your valuables on your person
Something that is small, like cash and credit cards and your passport, can be carried in a money wallet around your neck or in a money belt. In this way, your valuables are hidden and right next to you and you know where they are at all times. Wear clothing that can hide the money belt. Carry larger valuables in your carry-on bag.
3
If you can't fit it in your money wallet like some large valuables, you'd better put them somewhere where you will keep in touch with them. You can put them on the plane, so you don't have to worry about the airline losing your bag or someone stealing it from the belt after the flight before you get to it. Choose a hotel that has the front desk for valuables.
This way, you don't have to worry about housekeeping getting hold of your valuables, or someone stealing your valuables if your room is broken into. If you give the valuables to the front desk to keep for you, choose a time when others are not looking.
36. When you plan your travel ahead of time, you should make sure that _______. A. you take valuables that you would like to have B. you take valuables as many as possible C. you take valuables that you must have

39. Which kind of hotel can you choose while travelling according to the text? A. You can choose a hotel with a lot of housekeepers for valuables. B. You can choose a hotel with gatekeepers. C. You can choose some cheap hotel.
D. You can choose a hotel with the front desk for valuables. The passage is mainly about _______.

Where am I? Am I really in a new place? If I am in a form of a human, then why are all these people staring at me? But when you are a new girl in school, nobody except for your teachers seem to be genuinely interested in your arrival. Everywhere you go students are walking busily up the stairs with their schedule sheets and binders tucked under their arms. No one wants to be late to their classes!
My first day of school didn't go exactly as I planned. Instead of getting to classes the first day, I went over my schedule with the counselor and principal. Then I spent the rest of day in the library waiting for my sister to get her schedule done. In some ways, I was glad that I spent my first day of school this way. After all, who doesn't want to enjoy an extra day of freedom?
My official first day of school began the next day. I entered the main gates with a breath of fresh air, hoping my

bag wouldn't grow any heavier throughout the day. In the morning, I met my buddy and toured around the school while engaging in a small conversation about school life in general. It was surprising and interesting to find out how much we had in common. But despite all the excitement, I felt exhausted by the end of the day. Being around new people is always tiring. So when I got home, I collapsed on the bed and fell asleep in a fetus position. Although I haven't made many friends on my first day of school, I felt everything would fall into its place over time.
My suggestion to students out there, who are going through the same adaptation process, is to relax. I wasn't particularly nervous on my first day of school, but I came home almost dragging myself into the bed. If you are all tensed up, think positively and imagine that you are in your old school but in a different place with different people. What could possibly go wrong? Be strong; be lively; be relaxed; be yourself -- and enter your first day of school with those four Bs in mind.
41. Who will be really interested in the writer’s arrival? A. her teacher
B. her buddy
C. her classmates D. her sister
42. Why did the writer feel glad on the first day of school? A. Because she made a plan for class. B. Because she didn’t have any class at all. C. Because she read books at the library. D. Because she played with her sister. 43. What did the writer find surprising? A. She had a lighter schoolbag. C. She had a lot in common with others.
B. She could be around new people. D. She wasn’t tired after school.
44. The passage is mainly about _______. A. how to relax ourselves at class B. how to get along with new people C. how to calm in front of new teachers D. how to spend our first day of school 45. This is basically a passage of _______. A. apology B. gratitude C. suggestion D. comment

English learning isn’t an easy thing, but most people can learn it well if they’re willing to put in the necessary time. Here are some practical suggestions for learning English effectively, overcoming anxiety, and learning the grammar and skills necessary for success in English classes. A. Develop a good attitude.
Have a clear personal reason for taking an English class. Set personal goals for what you want to learn. Leave perfectionism at the door; give yourself permission to make mistakes and learn from them. B. Divide your study time.
Study a different task each time: vocabulary now, grammar next, etc. Get an overview during the first half hour: spend 10 minutes reviewing dialog, 10 minutes learning new vocabulary, 10 minutes learning new grammar… So you’ll at least have looked at it all. About 80% of your study time should be spent on recitation or practice. C. Make yourself comfortable.
Get to know your classmates, so you’ll feel you’re among friends. Visit your teacher during office hours.
5
Explain your goals and fears about the course to your friends or your teacher. D. Attend and participate in every class – even if you aren’t well prepared.
Class time is your best opportunity to practice. Learn the grammar and vocabulary outside of class in order to make full use of the class time. Spend a few minutes “warming up〞 before each class by speaking or reading English.
E. Study every day.
English learning is cumulative (积累的): you cannot put it off until tomorrow. Study one or two hours for every class hour if you want a good mark. F. Learn grammar well.
Grammar is the skeleton (根本的) and the basic structure of a language, so you must learn it.

It has been two months since I entered the senior high school. I am so sorry that I don’t write you very often. Because of homesickness, there was a time when I couldn’t get along well with my classmates. They said that I was only concerned about myself, and wasn’t grateful to their care and help. I didn’t know what to do, so I asked my teacher for help and followed her advice. Since then, I have been friendly to everybody, so I make more and more friends gradually. Even if the one meets me the first time, he will want to make friends with me. I will be home after the mid-term examination. Miss you badly.
Love you Tom
